Seven Best Action Movies

Action movies are fun, fast paced, and the good ones keep you glued to your seat. These seven movies have done just that. They also have been innovators in the genre and pushed it to new limits.

1. The Matrix. This movie was a game changer. You can’t watch a movie with ‘bullet time’ or a 360 degree camera pan without thinking of The Matrix.

2. Saving Private Ryan. The D-Day scene is one of the most realistic and epic scenes ever shot on film, and has been a benchmark in the genre ever since.

3. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. The entire series was packed full of action, but this one stands above the rest for its battle of Pelennor Fields.

4. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. The snow battle on planet Hoth, Yoda training Luke to use the force, and a light saber battle between Skywalker and Darth Vader. Not only did the movie revolutionize CGI, but it has been one of the most recognizable movies through multiple generations.

5. Kill Bill, Vol. 1. Often cited as Tarantino’s best work, this film takes violence and revenge to a new level.

6. Gladiator. This film brought to life the brutal ancient tradition of the roman coliseum and led a slew of epic movies following in its footsteps.

7. Enter the Dragon. Bruce Lee at his best. No superfluous dialogue or plot development, just an hour and a half of some of the best Kung Fu on film.

Are there any others that should be on the list?
